Keep Calm and Have a Dialogue!

It is not always easy to find an understanding between people. We all have different personalities and different ways of expressing ourselves. Dialogue is not about finding agreement. It is about being respectful towards each other and trying to find common ground, understanding each other’s views and finding ways of enriching our own perspectives.

And some interesting history facts regarding the origin of slogans like in this post image: 

The phrase "Keep Calm and Carry On" originated from a motivational poster produced by the British government in 1939 during the beginning of World War II. The original poster was intended to boost public morale in the event of German invasion of Britain. While the poster was never widely displayed during the war (actually, 2.45 million posters displaying this message were printed, only to be pulped and recycled in 1940 to help the British government deal with a serious paper shortage), it gained popularity many years later (actually in the beginning of '20s) and has since become a well-known slogan for resilience and composure in the face of adversity with numerous variations circulating around in the web and the social media.

The Dialogue in Adult Learning (DIAL) Erasmus Plus project addresses this challenge by equipping adults with essential dialogue skills. Some ideas for more dialogue-based events in libraries

  Erasmus+ project DIAL – Dialogue in Adult Learning (2022-2024) explores dialogue as a key life skill that helps us collaborate effectively with others, build stronger connections within communities, and experience greater life satisfaction, since interacting with others is a significant part of our lives. As part of our partnership collaboration, we also invited libraries to participate in the project as hosts of dialogue-based events. In this article we would like to present some of the events organised by the ambassadors of dialogue. The events were very well received by the visitors, and we are happy to point out that most of the events continue to live on also after the project has ended.
